As a video artist, Taube detaches the medium of film from its linear and stringent narrative structure in his works. By means of multi-channel installations, associative, reflective and surreal sequences, Taube works against conventional cinematographic codes. By abolishing the immediacy of the medium through epic elements and discontinuous montage, his works aim for a differentiation between seeing, observing, experiencing and reflecting.
The solo exhibition at PYLON-Lab will present Taube’s latest work „Operating Track“, which is a new installation of his work complex „The Galloping Horse“ that is comprised of three films. The films contemplate different elements like asbestos, workers and film itself as ‚material‘ in regard to their systemic conditions.
“Operating Track“ is based on Taube’s interest in immediate, socially-defining elements of environment, or ‚material‘ in a broader sense. The artist questions our social approach to things we do not seem but that are part of our reality in his works.
