'Ryan O'Reilly, from Winchester, UK, is a songwriter whose Irish parentage and English upbringing combine to create a passionate storyteller. A meandering musical journey began with performing at open-mic nights in Toronto as a teenager, studying poetry in Dublin and making a living street performing on London’s Portobello Road. Gaining experience and fans from touring extensively across Europe and North America playing shows with This Is The Kit, Lissie, Alice Merton, joining acts like Arkells, Tift Merritt, Anaïs Mitchell on stage to perform and headlining a unique tour of medieval churches across Europe with Canadian trio The O'Pears. The debut album 'The Northern Line' was released on Qatar’s first record label, DNA Records and featured the singles 'The One', 'November' and 'Sometimes Things Just Happen' which entered German airplay charts. The new album 'I Can't Stand The Sound' was recorded between a cinema in Brooklyn and the fourteenth century Chale Abbey on the Isle of Wight in 2017. The new album journeys between a fatal car accident, Irish ghosts, the beauty and darkness of Berlin, comprehending the American landscape at the end of 2016 and trying to filter out the noise of relentless opinions on 24-hour news TV and online. Produced by David Granshaw and in collaboration with long-time co-writer Tyler Kyte, ‘I Can't Stand The Sound’ was released on DNA/CARGO Records on 26 January 2018.
