In this Audiovisual event the expression and translation of emotions is examined through simultaneous music and visual art performances.
Lost in Translations
Language (in spoken and written forms) has been the predominant and known to be the most common medium used for communication amongst human races. Nonetheless, no matter how skilful we are in a language and no matter whether it is our mother tongue or an acquired one, there comes often times that this medium reaches its potential borders to describe deep and profound emotions felt by us. One might even say that language does not do just when it comes to expression of such emotions.
How often do we find ourselves struggling with expressing our feelings through languages and which approaches help us deal with its limitations?
Many take asylum in art as it allows them to broaden the spectrum of mediums used for self-expression, enables them to overcome the barriers faced while using words as a communication tool, and facilitates a rapid method for transformation of ideologies. From music and fine arts to cinematography, mix medias, and dance performances, a vast range of media has been applied to speak the unspoken words. How does it feel to feel the expressed emotions through music, and can these emotions be translated to visual representation? Is this translation perceptual and how accurate is it?
:Im Exil: collective plans to launch a prototype event in collaboration with the Käferklause and the Dresden-based audio-visual artists Jana Lütkewitte and Lívia Martino to examine the translation of emotions through melodies and visual arts in a simultaneous fashion.
Thereby, we would like to invite you to be part of this experience with us and look forward to exploring this realm further with you.
With a hope that language barriers never become the reason hindering us from communication and self-expression.
All donations will go to Käferklause to support their efforts to create open spaces for music, art, and cultural exchanges for less represented groups in Dresden.
