Women Artists of South Asia: Varying Registers of the Radical
Thanks to geopolitics and historical association, if not direct colonial rule, South Asia has had a shared past. But this does not necessarily mean the countries share a common socio-political present. I would like to explore the varying registers at which women artists negotiate oppression across the region and enunciate feminist acts of resistance, how even the simplest of artistic gestures becomes ‘radical’ given the specificity and adversity of one’s location.
